will never end up as landfill

The fashion industry is the second largest polluter in the world – after the oil industry.

We are striving for a low impact and circular industry. With that in mind, every element of our garments have been designed to return back to nature.

Favouring natural fabrications, our focus is to source fibres that can be certified against credible industry standards.

Our fibre portfolio has been carefully developed in line with our commitments:

One of the most recognised fibres in the world, cotton plays a big role in our materials. Whether blended, or pure – it’s beautiful softness and breathability makes it one of our favourite choices.

Conventionally, cotton uses a lot of water and is associated with high pesticide use which has negative effects on growers and the soil.

Given our values, we have defined our responsible cotton portfolio to include and favour:

    - Organic Cotton
    - Recycled Cotton
    - Regenerative Cotton
    - myBMP Cotton

As a proud Australian brand, we will be focusing our efforts to support the Australian Cotton industry in the long term.

When sourcing cotton, it is important to ensure that our fibres have been certified against the correct standards to ensure integrity. In this case they are:

    - GOTS
    - OCS
    - GRS and RCS
    - myBMP

Luxurious, durable, and breathable – we love our linens.

This fabric is made from the flax plant, which requires little water and pesticides.

It is biodegradable so it is a perfect choice for our circular design processes.

The retting process which removes the tough external shell that the fibre is wrapped in, can be a chemically intensive process, which is why we favour organic linen.

When sourcing our linen, our preference is to work with certified fabrications.

In the case of linen that is:

    - GOTS
    - EU Ecolabel

A biodegradable and sensual fabric, silk provides us with the ability to design luxurious and delicate garments.

Silk takes to dyes beautifully, which minimises the number of times it needs to be dipped, however there are animal welfare concerns associated with this beautiful fibre. The silk worm graciously spins the fibres that can comprise metres of silk thread, but if not treated humanely, the silkworm can suffer during the extraction process.

When sourcing silk, our preference is to work with practitioners that employ responsible animal welfare practices, and responsible land management practices.

In the case of silk this means:

    - Peace Silk
    - GOTS

A fibre that is made from natural and renewable resources and classified as a man-made cellulosic- MMC; dissolved wood pulp, Tencel™ provides us with the ability to design garments that have a fluid and durable quality.

When sourced and processed responsibly, Tencel™ is a wonderful fibre that allows flexible design.

Conventional MMCs such as viscose, lyocell and modal are associated with high energy use, chemical use, and water use. They can also be associated with deforestation.

Our preference when sourcing MMCs is to work with organisations that prioritise responsible social and environmental practices.

    In this case, that means:

    - LENZING TENCEL ™
